Guys, have I mentioned that I am loving my new job? I know I haven't really talked about it much yet, but life has been busy. Actually, I have two new jobs but I won't give all the details about both right now. Basically I just want to show off one of the first awesome perks of my new job working at a framing shop. One of my first clients/customers/I'm not quite sure what to call them, brought in a huge awesome painting of the golden gate bridge. The canvas was painted in warm yellows, oranges, and reds, so the gold frame that it was already in was not doing anything for it. Anyways, it was my job to help the customer pick out something new and awesome to frame his art in so that it looks as best as it possibly can; so we set the old frame aside and designed a completely rad new frame to be built for it. I can't wait to see it done. But that isn't what is making me super psyched right now, right now the object of my affection is the old frame that he didn't want anymore, because lucky me got to take it home.
Take a look at this beauty. All 24 x 36 inches of its gaudy and gold glory. I'm in love. I've included some close up shots so you can see just how amazing this frame is. In case you can't tell, that inner part of the frame is a gold velvet-like fabric. It's just so bad it's good. I think we were meant to find each other. I might love it too much, but really I just can't wait to make a painting for it.
Get excited because sometime in the future, though I can't promise when, you will be seeing a finished painting in that frame. And you can bet that there will probably be even more gold. I've got a bunch of ideas firing off in my head and I'm excited to see which ones end up sticking around.
As you can see I'm just starting to write down a few of those ideas. I'm usually not one to do much sketching/planning before a painting but my new moleskin has been putting me in the mood. I've never had a moleskin before but I know they are many people's notebooks of choice and I have to admit I might be hooked. The cover is so soft and bendable in just the right amount. Oh and the sketchbook I got has DOTTED pages. They are awesome. Totally meant for someone who wants to sketch and be proportional and write notes that are neat and orderly; aka this notebook is for a perfectionist so it is perfect for me. If you think you need one too, I fully support that.
Well thats all I have for today, I just had to tell everyone about this gem of a frame because I'm totally obsessed with it. Have a wonderful Tuesday!
