Recent life decisions have had me thinking about some things I believe to be true. Decision making can be hard. These are reminders I tell myself when life gives me the blessing and burden of options. Hopefully you can relate.
Trust your intuition. More often then not, a gut feeling is present. Sometimes it is very small, but it is there. Its a feeling that can't be explained, but it is there to lead us in the right direction. Maybe one choice feels uneasy and uncomfortable. Or maybe an option gives a positive feeling. However your intuition shows itself, trust it, it may mean more than you think.
Put yourself first. I know I am not alone when I say I can tend to be a people pleaser. Thinking of others is a wonderful thing but it isn't okay when we stop prioritizing our own needs and happiness. This clouds our judgment and keeps us from being able to see the path that is right for us. Making choices based on our own joy, sanity, and essential needs should be put first. Doing so is not selfish or conceited. It is smart. If we make sure our own needs are being met we will be better equipped to help others. We shouldn't forget about how our actions affect others, rather let's use them as a guide while we keep our own needs at the forefront.
Look for signs. I've noticed it's the times that I have put myself first and trusted my intuition, I am given signs. Signs can be huge and obvious, or small and half hidden. Little things may happen that pull us one way or another. A shift in circumstances may prove that a certain decision makes sense at a moment in time. If we stay alert, signs may show us that we made the right choice. Be aware of these little gifts. Allow them to encourage and build self trust.
No regrets. Decisions can't be erased. Life doesn't give us do-overs. Instead of wasting our time regretting decisions, lets accept, learn, and move on.
Everything happens for a reason. I am a huge believer of this statement. Believing this gives me peace. It reminds me that no matter what decision I make, it was meant to be. For us it means when life gives us options, we just need to do our best to live with integrity. If we can do that, I believe we won't be looking back on our lives and seeing it filled with mistakes and wrong decisions. Instead we will see a life filled with moments that were meant to happen and all the ups and downs that were brought with them.
