Long time, no talk huh? Sorry I've been a little M.I.A. lately but the mental and physical preparations for my move across country have been keeping me pretty busy. After saying some really hard goodbyes, and having to pick and choose what parts of my life were coming with me and what had to stay behind, I can officially say that I am on my way. I'm actually writing this post from my hotel room in Lincoln, NE. For those of you who don't know, today (Tuesday) marked the day I began my road trip from Wisconsin to San Francisco, to officially start the next chapter of my life of the West coast. My mom and I are making the drive together (so thankful for her) and then she is going to fly home after she gets me a little bit settled. Don't worry, I'll stop back with updates often and let you know how things are going. Things of note from our first day of driving would be my windshield wiper fluid freezing which delayed us for a bit, starting the Serial podcast and loving it, and getting our delicious mexican dinner paid for by two strangers who were also dining at the restaurant. Gotta admit, I think we are off to a good start. I wanted to stop in and say a quick hello and since I did finish a painting this week I figured I would share it. This week I painted a large wooden chest for my amazing friend Jordyn and her boyfriend Mason, two of my favorite people. They had bought this chest a while back and asked me to paint it for them so in between vacuum sealing I was scrambling to finish this piece for them. It was fun to do though and I think they like the finished product so a little lost sleep was worth it. Not to mention while I was working on it Monday night after packing all day and leaving early the next morning, they stopped by my house for a last goodbye and CD case full of burned discs for the long car ride. They are just the best.
I'm exhausted from the day of travel and many restless nights I've had leading up to my official departure so I'm just going to let the pictures do the talking and you can see a few of the stages the chest went through during the process of painting it.
I'm going to end with a quote that has been on my mind for the past couple days. It really sums up how I am feeling about starting a new chapter in my life.
Wherever you go, go with all your heart.
