As promised, here is the recap of the U.S. Open Chainsaw Sculpture Championship. Courtney and I went this morning to check it out which was a great time to go. The artists started on Thursday and had until 1:00pm today (Sunday) to finish their sculptures. We were there around 11:00 am so we got to see everyone making their final touches. I can't say I have ever seen anything like it but it was pretty cool to watch. The top 10 chainsaw artists from around the world were here in Wisconsin showing off their skills which were pretty impressive. I'll show you pictures of some of my favorites as well as a few from the Paul Bunyan logging museum that we got to walk through for free. It was right next to the sculpture event and brought back memories of field trips I went on as a young Wisconsinite.
After the sculpture event I went to the beach with a couple of my favorite people. We had most of the beach to ourselves and spent the day relaxing and tossing a frisbee around. We also spent a decent amount of time collecting drift wood and rocks. Apparently visiting the logging museum made me nostalgic of things I did in second grade. Can't complain though, it was a pretty perfect day to spend at the beach.
